Despite a disappointing start to the spring this year, the sun is threatening to come out to play at last and thoughts turn to some of the fabulous locations in our county for a picnic with friends and family. The South Downs from Firle Beacon to Ditchling Beacon and all along to Devils Dyke, Blackdown and Kingley Vale to some of our beautiful beaches, Sussex has it all for outside feasts. We also have some spectacular gardens to enjoy – Nymans, Sheffield Park, Petworth Park, Standen and Leonardslee to name but a few. So, it’s time to enjoy the views, smell the flowers and enjoy some outstanding food and drink.
Picnics or ‘Pique-Niques’ originated in France and were actually held indoors and why not? With our newly launched Armchair Tasting Tours, ‘Not Just a Picnic’ Tour you can enjoy casual eating out and about, in your own garden as well as indoors around the kitchen table. Really it is a just a perfect excuse to find out about some of the exciting products made in Sussex and what better way to stay as sustainable as possible than to source all your delicious treats locally and stay within the county.
The Armchair Tasting Tours team have worked tirelessly to seek out some fantastic products and we, of course have tasted extensively to make sure everything we offer in our new ‘Not Just a Picnic‘ tours are exceptional. Add our tasting notes to tell you all about the products and those who produce them and the boring picnic is no more – it just turned into a fabulous ‘Outside Dining Experience’. No food planning, shopping, chopping, packing, soggy sarnies or nasty dips. Let Armchair Tasting Tours make your ‘Picnic’ one to remember for all the right reasons.
