Newsletter No 5 – January/Feb 2022

Welcome to 2022

A little late but Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful Christmas and 2022 brings happiness, good health and some fabulous local food and drink…. Obviously. It’s nearly a year since Armchair Tasting Tours began in the lockdown of 2021. Our mission, to share our love of locally produced food and drink, made with passion and expertise by Sussex artisans. We have made good progress but there is more to be done.

Christmas was an exciting time for us, our seasonal hampers were really popular and we thoroughly enjoyed getting out and about meeting new producers and our customers at events and Christmas fairs all over the county. We returned to ATT headquarters tired but happy with some really delicious new products to include in our hampers and tours this year. Thank you to you all for your support over the last year.

We are currently working on a new limited-edition hamper “How Sweet It is….”. A really special hamper of sweet treats perfect for your Valentine, Mother’s Day or even an Easter gift for someone really special. With some beautiful local wine, cocktails, chocolate and more, we are having a thoroughly delicious time ensuring everything is as it should be for the ones we love most.

Sadly, Covid is still a part of our lives and continues to restrict so much of what we can do. Armchair Tasting Tours was a reaction to the very first wave of Covid, bringing local food tours to homes across Sussex and even further afield. If you are looking for a fun activity for family and friends in the comfort of your own home then don’t forget our home food tours. Sussex From Your Sofa takes you on a tour of the county, with an aperitif to start and something sweet to finish you will taste some outstanding food and drink and hear some stories and tales about the produce, the county, its history and more. A really different dinner party, date night, zoom gathering? We can send our tours anywhere in the UK, visit our website www.armchairtastingtours.co.uk to find out more.

This is the part of the newsletter where we give some recommendations of some gorgeous places to seek out food and drink in Sussex. After the indulgences of the festive season, we thought some local fruit and vegetables would hit the spot! A veg box delivery is a great way to challenge yourself to try new recipes and seasonal fruit and vegetables. Barcombe Nurseries offer local, organic, seasonal boxes delivered to your home. Sussex Eggspress are now delivering veg boxes filled with produce grown only in the UK in their Cluck Truck across Brighton and Sussex. Scarecrows Pantry offer a range of veg and fruit boxes including organic Sussex produce only options. We are fortunate that many of our towns and villages have local shops that have supported their community throughout the pandemic, many offer great fruit and vegetables and often have a box scheme, so please do explore your local high street and support local independent businesses!
