Welcome to our October newsletter, our favourite time of year, the nights are drawing in, the leaves are falling from the trees and we have the perfect excuse to tuck ourselves up with some delicious local treats…..

We have had a great Summer. As restrictions lifted, we have been out and about meeting our fabulous producers and also our rather attractive customers! We have lots of great products to share with you all over the next few months, so follow us on Instagram and Facebook for more news.

We have launched our Armchair Tasting Microtours on social media. Food tours are a recent discovery for many and these Microtours are a tiny insight into what we do, a single product, why they are so special and of course some tasting too! Claire is thoroughly enjoying making these as usually she does all the guiding and none of the tasting on our tours.

So here at Armchair Headquarters we are getting ready for Christmas (we know it’s only early October), putting together a fantastic Winter Tour and the perfect Christmas Gift Hampers, the answer to all your gift giving nightmares. More of that in the next newsletter.

Congratulations To..
Rhona McGurk, winner of our “Not Just A Picnic” Tour for 4 in our competition June. Enjoy the tour Rhona and please send us some photos of your al fresco feasting.

Sharon Scott is the winner of our Lindfield Village Day Hamper Draw. It was fantastic to see Village Day return to Lindfield Common and what a day we had. Meeting lots of local food enthusiasts and sharing tasters, from Fermento Bakery Falia focaccia, Horsham Gingerbread to Wobblegate Apple and Pear Juice. We love talking about what we do and why, sharing the love for our amazing local independent food and drink producers.

Group Tasting Events

We are now offering group tastings. An interesting and fun way to fundraise, team build or just enjoy time together.  We bring a selection of local Sussex food and drink to your venue and guide you through a tasting. We tell the stories behind the products, provide lots of delicious food, challenge your tastebuds and your brains with a quiz and provide a set of tasting notes too. For the most amazing range of fresh fish and seafood visit Fish, Brighton and Newhaven Fish Sales. Find it at Shoreham Harbour close to Hove Lagoon. Lots of local fish and expert fishmongers to help you choose, prepare and cook it too.

While you are there visit The Cheese Hut, an amazing cheese shop full to the rafters with local cheeses, chutneys, crackers and so much more. They do a fabulous range of “cheese cakes” for special occasions and are the loveliest cheesemongers.

For a delicious lunch, tea and cake and perhaps a little shopping try One Garden Brighton. You will find it in Stanmer Park, a stunning restoration of the walled garden by Plumpton College. This is the home of the college’s horticulture centre, with spaces for training and education. However, you will also find One Kitchen a great place to eat some of the produce growing in the gardens and One Market, selling lots of local food and drink. Well worth a visit.

For a special dinner, Masterchef winner Kenny Tutt has opened a new restaurant in Worthing on the beach. Bayside Social has sea views without the bracing sea breezes, a great menu and some rather excellent cocktails, cheers!
